Details: The site was originally created by myself in 2002 and used a considerable amount of flash animation, which has now been replaced by layers of JQuery as client did not wish to have a complete overhaul. The artist participates in events and exhibits his work. The site is also used to aid in generating interest for sales.

Details: The test required provided elements to be used in a landing page design and brief instruction (font-size and colors). Other instruction was not provided. In researching, I found the actual page on the website I was instructed to design for, and I created an improved version: changed color of shirt in provided photo, and I improved the typography styling and layout—in general. I thought the design was great (albeit font-size too small for a landing page).

Details: This was a class project. I used a layout I did a few years prior for my resume/portfolio sample mailer. The tear off strip was my business card, but it also works great as a tear off strip of business card and coupons.

Details: Photoshop montage and typography. The idea was to be illustrative on the outside with images on the inside. The brand was difficult to incorporate in fall colors, so the butterfly blue and orange rules in the center bar, and blue bar at bottom validated brand. Brand lead out with butterfly on back of card. Technically this should have been a monarch, as this is the migration time of year.

Details: I updated the previous unengaging look by employing bertter typographic hierarchy and a set of styles for readability, blocks of color (college brand), dynamic shapes, and larger, edited/retouched photos. I created two styles of templates to streamline the editing process.

Description: Sandwich Fair Annual Event – DeKalb County Fair

Details: Graphics were initially concepted by a former student for a class project in 2011. The website quickly grew to an audience of 3,000 to 4,000 visits per day during the season, with an audience that is 75% mobile. Site was redesigned in 2017 fall, and new management discontinued the mobile- and user-centric design for CMS functionality (2018).

Details: Working with the product manager and marketing, this ad was to be placed on a partner site (KBB) and needed to be responsive to work with their new site design. The HTML and CSS used flexbox for vertical spacing and Bootstrap to push and pull elements.

Title: Buzzworthy Coffee/News Café Test Site
Description: Assessment design and development for KaVo Kerr Interview.
Role: Designer and front end developer.
Details: The test was to create a landing page for coffee shop with a coupon and using a script font for a phrase. All graphic elements, images, copy, icons, logo, backgrounds were created by me and images were borrowed. The site framwork was purchased from Themeforest. I elaborated and made the business a news/coffee house with streaming news at each table. No kids allowed!

Details: Keeping the logos and general brand colors, the brand was given more substance and emotional quality through imagery and strong layout. In-depth styles for a future streamlined system. Cover design was involved, and I was encouraged to keep costs down by using graphic elements.

Food Matters was a cooperative effort among students and myself for a non-profit project.

Details: This was an HTML/CSS class I took to knock some sense into my head to quit relying on Dreaweaver and learn to hand code. This instructor was crazy awesome with W3C and accessibility, and I went a bit overboard. This is not responsive, but the form is a PHP I found, and managed to get working. I started my non profit at the same time I took this class, so this worked out well as a final project. It is here for posterity. 2009. Updates were to student names only.
